Yoko is the boss of the 7th world, Volcanic Pools, in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (HD).

Description

Yoko is a small, psychic marmoset that sits atop and controls a mesh of colored balls, some with spikes, to hit you. After she attempts to hit you, the balls will fall apart, and you must hit her as she jumps from one ball to another. The balls will take various formations. She battles you on a fairly large, circular platform.

Boss Battle Tutorial

To defeat her, avoid the balls that she is controlling until they all collapse. Once they collapse, jump on her head. Repeat this process until she is defeated. Try to stay as much as possible on the center of the platform to stay on course more easily. Try as hard as possible not to miss hitting her as there is not much time to spare during the battle.

Changes in Banana Blitz HD

Yoko is less expressive in the opening cutscene in Banana Blitz HD than in Banana Blitz.[1] For example, at the beginning of the opening cutscene she briefly has a composed look on her face in the Wii version that is not present in the HD version, and she looks happy while dancing on top of the Magimacaque in the Wii version, but not in the HD version. This is largely due to 2 unique eyes closed textures for Yoko, one neutral and one happy, being used during the cutscene, that aren't used in the HD version, which also means she never closes her eyes in the HD version's cutscene. Furthermore, Yoko's eyes closing will sometimes not occur when she is defeated, resulting in her lying on the ground with her eyes open.

Trivia

  • The ball creature that Yoko controls is named Magimacaque.
  • The two bosses were renamed as one boss called Magimacaque in Banana Blitz HD. This is the only boss in the game to retain their name from the original Banana Blitz.
  • In the Nintendo Switch version of Banana Blitz HD, the iron balls of the Magimacaque cannot be seen when looking through the monkey ball.
  • In Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, the new music used for this boss fight is the Clock Tower Factory theme from Super Monkey Ball 2.
