Monkey Dogfight is a Party Game in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. In it, monkeys fly around in an arena, and attempt to gun down other monkeys for points.

Gameplay

The game is played by flying around in an arena, and firing at other monkeys. A box appears in the middle of the screen, and opponents close enough to the player kept within the box for long enough will be locked on to, and shots fired will go towards them. Each shot will deal 1 hit point of damage to the opponent, and missiles will deal 3 hit points of damage. Missiles can also home in on nearby opponents, while bullets always travel in a straight line, however the player has a limited number of missiles, and infinite bullets. When a monkey's hit points are fully depleted, they are shot down. Each monkey starts off with 30 hit points in total. The HUD provides several pieces of information to the player, outlined further down the page. There are 2 game modes:

In Normal mode, the objective is to score the most number of points. 50 points are scored for hitting an opponent with a bullet, 500 points are scored for hitting an opponent with a missile, and 1000 points are awarded for shooting down an opponent. This means potentially 1500 points can be scored in a single hit. If a monkey is shot down, they will respawn after a few seconds, and will not lose points, but will lose precious time, and the opponent who shot them down gains a large number of points.

In Survival mode, points are not scored. Instead, the winner is the last monkey standing.

HUD

The hud has the following features:

• Lock-on box - A box that appears in the centre of the screen. Opponents kept within this box for long enough will be locked on to.
• Reticles - Small boxes that appear around other monkeys. If one of these is within the lock-on box and turns red, it indicates that monkey has been locked on to.
• Coloured Arrows - Appear around the player. Show the direction of each of the opponents, each in the colour of said opponent.
• Radar - Appears on the left of the screen. Shows the lateral locations of other monkeys within range, relative to the player, and what direction they're facing.
• Altimeter - Appears on the right side of the screen. Shows the altitudes of the player, and of the 3 opponents, with the player being shown on the left and the opponents on the right.
• Speedometer - Appears on the bottom left of the screen. Shows the player's current speed in km/h.
• Hit point gauge - Top right for the player, top left for opponents. Shows how many hit points each monkey has remaining.
• Missile reserve - Appears on the top right below the player's hit point gauge. Shows the current number of missiles the player has.
• The player's score, the remaining time and the player's placement are also show across the top of the screen.
