Monkey Race is a Party Game in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.
Gameplay
As with other iterations of Monkey Race across the Super Monkey Ball, players are tasked with getting to the goal as fast as they can while using items to hinder others from getting ahead.
This did not return in Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD.
To move their monkey, the player must hold the Wii Remote sideways and press and hold the 2 Button to accelerate while tilting the Wii Remote to steer. When a player picks up an item from an Item Box, they must press the directional button on the +Control Pad to use that items.
The items are as follows:
- Speed Star: Temporarily increases the user's speed.
- Banana Peel: An attack item that, when touched, causes the player to slip and lose control of their monkey.
- Bowling Bomber: A bowling ball-like bomb that explodes when it hits another player, sending them flying into the air.
- Big Ball: Enlarges the player's Monkey Ball and deflects all items except the Hunter Missile for a few moments.
- Ice Cube: An attack item that causes the player to lose traction and speed of their monkey for a few moments.
- Gravity Bomber: Significantly increases the user's gravity and lowers their speed for a few moments.
- Hunter Missile: Attacks every player ahead of the user.
Tracks
- Island Road: A long, oval-shaped track with speed boosters to keep the flow going. It is based on Monkey Island.
- Jungle Highway: A figure-8 shaped track with slopes to help the player pick up speed. It is based on Jumble Jungle.
- Sand Storm: A star-shaped course with 75-degree turns. It is based on Detritus Desert.
- Pirate Circuit: A track consisting of long, but slightly bending straights. It is based on Pirates Ocean.
- Fire Ball: A track with many hills, straights and dips. It is based on Volcanic Pools.
