Jump Single
Jump Single is the 9th Beginner floor in (Super) Monkey Ball.
In Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, it is the 24th Beginner and Ultimate stage in Challenge Mode, as well as World 2-6 in Story Mode.
In Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, on top of its original position, it is also the 9th SMB1 Marathon stage.
Description
The stage consists of a large downwards slope, with a ramp near the bottom in the centre. The goal platform is positioned after the ramp, a moderate distance away, and contains a wall at the back. There is a short path at the beginning leading to the slope. Notably, this stage is the first that requires the player to leave the ground to complete, introducing the concept of "jumping", if the player has not already attempted to do so in earlier levels.
Strategy
Clearing this stage requires rolling down the slope with sufficient speed, such that hitting the ramp will result in bouncing into the air, in order to cross the gap.
Reappearances
A harder version of this stage, called Jump Double, appears in Advanced. As for Jump Single itself, it has reappeared a few times throughout the series, namely:
- In Jr. as Beginner Floor 9
- In N-Gage as Beginner Floor 9
- In Touch & Roll as Deviant Drop
Other notable appearances of the setup for this stage are:
- The Expert stage Sega Logo, which starts on an exact replica of Jump Single.
- In SMB2, where Cliffs contains a series of duplicates of the slope, with each jump ramp becoming narrower.
- In Banana Splitz, where both Longest Fall and Heaven and Hell contain the familiar panhandle leading to elongated versions of the slope.
