Bonus Basic
Bonus Basic is the 5th Beginner, Advanced and Expert floor in (Super) Monkey Ball. It is a bonus stage.
In Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, it is the 10th Beginner and Ultimate stage.
In Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, on top of its original positions, it is also the 5th SMB1 Marathon stage.
Description
This stage consists of two square platforms connected by a path. The second square is smaller, with an elevated section in the centre. The larger square has 48 bananas arranged in a double concentric square pattern, with one additional banana being in the center of said squares. The last banana is on the smaller square. There is a short railing around the entire stage, though falling out is still possible.
Unlike most stages, the time limit for this stage varies, as it is 60 seconds in Beginner, and 30 seconds in Advanced and Expert.
Strategy
Clearing the stage in the shortest time requires collecting bananas methodically, rather than simply randomly. Collecting the bananas in the outer and then inner square by following the path created by them, and then collecting the last two bananas is the generally used strategy.
In speedruns, players typically fall out intentionally, due to bonus stages not being required to progress, and it being faster to fall out than to complete a bonus stage. This is accomplished by running at the railings with speed, which usually results in bouncing over the railings.
