Double bananas

Double bananas are a phenomenon that appear in several Super Monkey Ball games. A double banana is 2 overlapping bananas in the same spot. Collecting them will award multiple bananas or banana bunches at once, and (in most cases) play the banana collection sound and monkey vocalization twice as loud, as the game attempts to play 2 such sounds at the same time.

In Super Monkey Ball

In Super Monkey Ball, all double bananas involve banana bunches. There is also an unconventional double banana, with a regular banana and a banana bunch in the same spot, rather than 2 of the same kind of banana. At least some of the double bananas appear to be intentional to grant the player additional bananas.

List of levels with double bananas

• Dodecagon - The banana bunch to the right of the starting point contains a regular banana inside it.
• Tracks - 2 of the banana bunches on the narrowest track are double banana bunches.
• Mixer - The final banana bunch of the second section is a double banana bunch.

In Super Monkey Ball 2

There is only one double banana in the unmodded Super Monkey Ball 2. It is located to the left of the end of the starting platform on Partition.

Via the debug menu, it can be seen that there is a double banana on the beta version of Earthquake as well.

In Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll

There is one known double banana in Touch & Roll, on the stage Halo, about halfway through the left side.

In Super Monkey Ball Adventure

There is one known double banana in Adventure, on the stage Whirlpool. It is to the right of the first gap on the slide.

In Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

Banana Blitz contains the largest number of known double bananas. All double bananas are removed in the HD remake, however.

List of levels with double bananas

• Smooth Sherbet's bonus stage - 3 of the bananas, one in each ring of bananas in a line, are double bananas.
• Pirates Ocean 4 - The banana by the fence on the right on the second tilting circular platform is a double banana.
• Pirates Ocean 8 - The first banana after the small barriers on the path disappear is a double banana.
• Cobalt Caverns' bonus stage - There are 4 double bananas, one on each ring, in a line on the circular platform.
• Space Case 8 - The banana on one of the orbs on this stage is a double banana.
