Monkey Trumps is a Party Game in Super Monkey Ball Adventure exclusive to the PSP version. It is the first party game in the history of the Super Monkey Ball series to feature online functionality.

About

Monkey Trumps is unique as it incorporates Story Mode into its gameplay. Trump cards can be found throughout all 5 kingdoms by gameplay, but all cards are specific to a certain character. For example, Dugdug can be found in Jungle Island, but only by playing with AiAi.

This game is played via network with cards that feature characters and their attributes collected throughout Story Mode. In order to access Monkey Trumps, you must collect at least 10 trump cards first via Story Mode.

Attributes include Strength, Lore, Joy, Charm, Curiosity, and SMB Value, on a scale of 1-20 points.

Controls

• Analog Stick - Scroll between cards
• X Button - Select card and/or attribute
• Start Button - Quit game

Settings

• Number of Players - Choose from two to four players.
• Deck - If playing Knockout, you continue until one person has won all the cards. When playing Exhaust, you play through the deck once and the winner is the person who has won the most cards.
• Call - This is the rule set and dictates what attribute wins. For example, if you play with the call set to high, the person with the highest selected attribute wins. This can also be set to random making the call change randomly between high and low (this is the only option available for Monkey Mayhem).
• Hand Size - Sets the number of cards you get to pick from.
• Ante - Play for keeps - if you lose, your card will go to the other player(s).
• Stack Size: the number of cards the plaver starts off with in their hand.
• Last Card: If you have one card left, you get to select the attribute (only applicable in Chief Chimps).

Gameplay

Mode Name	Icon	Description
Chief Chimps		Chief Chimps is the classic trump card game. One person picks an attribute of their played card, and if this card has the highest attribute value the player wins the card and adds it to their deck. This player then becomes the controlling player, choosing all the attributes until they are beaten. The games is finished when the player has everyone's cards in their own deck.
Monkey Mayhem		The top cards are compared to a specific attribute in this version. Whichever card has the top attribute, the opponent (or yourself) wins that said card. If a person has less than six cards, they choose a card freely to compare the assigned attribute to. If no cards are assigned to an attribute, this will count as a loss. The game is finished when a player has all cards in their deck.
