Extra Stage

Extra Stages are stages that are exclusive to Challenge Mode which can be accessed by completing a difficulty level under a certain condition. They serve as an extension to the difficulty levels, which will be rewarded to the player if they play well enough.
Appearances and Requirements
In Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball, the requirement for reaching the Beginner and Advanced Extra floors is to not lose a single life. To reach the Expert Extra floors however, the player mustn't use a continue instead. Additionally, to reach the Master floors, the player also mustn't use a continue in the Expert Extra levels.
In Super Monkey Ball Jr., Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, the requirement is to not lose a continue, which is the same across all difficulty levels.
The Extra Stages would later return in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, where the player can access them by clearing a difficulty level without the use of the Helper Function.

In Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball
A total of 18 Extra floors, with the distribution of 3 for Beginner, 5 for Advanced, and 10 for Expert. They all take place in the Interstellar world in Monkey Ball, and in the Space world in Super Monkey Ball. Some floors appear in multiple difficulty levels.

All difficulty levels have 10 Extra stages, including Master. Half of them take place in Space Colony, the other half in Dr. Bad-Boon's Base.

Trivia
- Super Monkey Ball Deluxe has the largest number of Extra stages in the series with a total of 70, while Super Monkey Ball Jr. has the smallest number with a total of 9.
- There was a false rumor where, on the Japanese version of (Super) Monkey Ball, the Beginner and Advanced Extra floors were also unlocked by not losing a continue, as opposed to not losing a single life. This is not true, as the requirements are the same across all versions of these games.
