Items

Items are obtained by running into item boxes that randomly appear on the track. They also start appearing in front of the finish line after the first lap. Each item box adds one item to your inventory, which can hold up to 3 items at once. If your inventory is full and you run into another item box, then the 3rd item gets replaced.

The item you'll receive from the item box is tied to your current position in the race. For example, 1st place cannot pull a Speed Star or a Hunter Missile.

COM Behavior

Patterns noticed:

  • For Charming Banana Road, Yellow COM3 is notably bad *almost always falls off on the first turn. Blue COM2 and Black COM7 are bad. Green COM4, Aqua COM5, Hot pink COM6, and White COM8 are good.
  • For Lovely Heart Ring, Aqua COM5 and Black COM7 are bad at Lovely Heart Ring. Yellow COM3 and White COM8 are good. Blue COM2, Green COM4, and Hot pink COM6 are notably good.
  • For Clock Tower Hill, Black COM7 is notably bad. Blue COM 2 is bad at Clock Tower Hill. Yellow COM3 and Aqua COM5 are good. Green COM4, Hot pink COM6, and White COM8 are notably good.
  • For Cannonball Circuit, Hot pink COM6 is notably bad, despite being one of the better racers everywhere else. Yellow COM3 and Green COM4 are bad, even though Green COM4 is better everywhere else. Aqua COM5 and Black COM7 are good. Blue COM2 and White COM8 are notably good.
  • For Submarine Street, Blue COM2, Hot pink COM6, and White COM8 are notably good. Green COM4 is good. Yellow COM3, Aqua COM5, and Black COM7 are bad.
    • Black COM7 will usually fall off twice near the goal line.
    • Most COM players, after going down the long ramp in the middle of the course, will speed off the track towards the yellow sign. (Blue, Yellow, Green, Aqua, and sometimes Black).
    • The bumpers on the slopes can prove to be a hassle for COM players; some will get stuck on the actual bumper, while others continually bump into it and get knocked off the course, although there is no noticeable pattern on which COMs get stuck.
  • For Starlight Highway, Hot pink COM6 and White COM8 are notably good. Green COM4 and Black COM7 are good. Blue COM2, Yellow COM3, and Aqua COM5 are bad.

Hot pink COM6, White COM8, and Green COM4 are the strongest AI. Yellow COM3 and Black COM7 are the worst, and Blue COM2 and Aqua COM5 are in the middle.
